I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who works with adults and adolescents (12+). Taking the first steps towards working with a counselor can be a very intimidating process and takes a lot of courage. My first goal when embarking on this journey with a client is to make the experience as comfortable and safe as possible. I feel incredibly honored to be a part of this journey with my clients, which is why I put such an emphasis on first building a trusting and collaborative relationship that will help empower them in their healing process. The human experience can be difficult to navigate, especially during these stages of life. It is my goal to provide a safe space where clients don’t have to face it alone.
There is great power in the therapeutic relationship alone that can foster healing and growth. I work primarily from a person-centered approach, meaning I believe that my clients are the experts of their own lives and have within themselves the ability to heal and overcome whatever challenges they may face. I also specialize in trauma focused work, with training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a highly effective and evidence-based approach that facilitates the processing and resolution of distressing memories and traumatic experiences. EMDR is an amazing tool to help clients to heal from past traumas and overcome emotional blocks.
As a counselor it is my goal to empower clients by providing a safe, empathetic, judgement free space, in which they can explore themselves and start their healing process. I consider the mind-body connection to be very important in healing. I often use holistic approaches to improve these connections incorporating mindfulness, physical movement, and more hands on, creative techniques, in addition to talk therapy. Lastly, I operate from the belief that each client is unique and therefore has different needs when it comes to their healing process. This means the approaches I use are very individualized to best fit the needs of each client.
